چکیده

Coating materials with special surface wettability are widely applied in marine paint systems used the naval industry to reduce corrosion and viscous drag of seawater. However, traditional coatings inefficient limited, either by poor durability or insufficient anti-drag capacity. Here, inspired diving bell spider, a bionic superhydrophobic coating multiscale hierarchical architecture was successfully prepared on aluminium alloy. It possesses excellent mechanical abrasion durability, chemical low adhesion. Remarkably, water contact angles could remain over 150.9° after more than 15 cycles strong acid/alkali conditions. In addition, impacting droplet lifted off alloy (BSAA) within 13 ms, illustrating an adhesion property. fact, when BSAA is immersed water, it absorb bubbles form gas membrane. The existence membrane prevent anaerobic organisms from contacting even corroding BSAA. Meanwhile, acts as lubricant significantly deceases friction at solid–liquid interface, reducing for proposed this work has broad application prospects, such medical devices, microfluidic chips, separation collection water.

Superhydrophobic and Anti-icing Coatings on Aluminium Alloy Surfaces

A superhydrophobic and anti-icing surface was prepared by consecutive immersion in boiling water and sputtering of polytetrafluoroethylene on the surface of an aluminium alloy substrate. The immersion time in boiling water plays an important role on the surface morphology and water repellency of the deposited RF-sputtered Teflon coating. The Teflon-like coating deposited on a rough surface achi...

Drag reduction on laser-patterned hierarchical superhydrophobic surfaces.

Hierarchical laser-patterned surfaces were tested for their drag reduction abilities. A tertiary level of surface roughness which supports stable Cassie wetting was achieved on the patterned copper samples by laser-scanning multiple times. The laser-fabricated micro/nano structures sustained the shear stress in liquid flow. A rheometer setup was used to measure the drag reduction abilities in t...

Mechanically durable superhydrophobic surfaces.

Development of durable non-wetting surfaces is hindered by the fragility of the microscopic roughness features that are necessary for superhydrophobicity. Mechanical wear on superhydrophobic surfaces usually shows as increased sticking of water, leading to loss of non-wettability. Increased wear resistance has been demonstrated by exploiting hierarchical roughness where nanoscale roughness is p...

Superhydrophobic surfaces reduce drag

Rare and common The hot grains of tektite and obsidian that show up in HD 172555’s IR spectrum are small enough that the star’s radiation pressure would drive them away from their current 6-AU orbit within 0.1 million years. The SiO molecules would likely condense and reform minerals on the same time scale. Given that rocky planets take 100 My to form, catching a giant impact in HD172555, despi...
